Thanks for visiting us here at Island Seafood. Family-run and with over thirty years’ experience, Andy and son Alex have developed an enviable reputation for the quality of our service and the freshness of our fish and shellfish.

Sourcing produce daily along the Cornish and Scottish coasts, in addition to the renowned Billingsgate Fish Market, we deliver across Essex and London’s East End in our own refrigerated vans to businesses in search of the freshest products.

We have no doubt that you have eaten some of our fish at some point. Island seafood supply local restaurants, cafe’s, bars, pubs, golfclubs, care homes and schools.

1980s

Andrew started his fishy career aged 26 working for a wholesaler based in London. By listening to chefs, he gained the knowledge to source exceptional seafood to exacting standards.

1991

In 1991 Andrew took a chance and started selling fresh and frozen seafood on his own to restaurants closer to home in Essex.

Quick Growth

Because of his exceptional knowledge and attention to detail the company very quickly got the reputation for quality. Outgrowing the single small van he rented a small warehouse in Romford. From here several staff were employed which helped grow the business further.

Scalling Up

The 500sqft Romford warehouse soon became filled up everyday with fresh seafood coming from all corners of the UK. A second delivery van was added to meet demand.

2007

Perfect Plaice

By 2007 it was clear the small warehouse was limiting the companys potential. A newly built warehouse estate 10 minutes from the famous Billingsgate Market was the perfect choice.

Bigger and Better

With more space, big walk in fridge and freezers could be designed to accommodate the business needs. By 2010 3 refrigerated vans were needed to deliver seafood daily to all corners of Essex.

2017

Family Business

In 2017 Andrews son Alex joined the business. Years worth of knowledge has been passed on. And with his fresh eyes, old systems were bought up-to-date.

Future

Our focus has and always will be to supply customers with the best possible seafood. Our continued growth and development will be because chefs trust us to deliver fish to them at higher standard.
